This is a discussion on Firefox on iPhone? within the Open Talk forums, part of the General Information category; I searched for Firefox through the iTunes store and didn't find anything. Is it available? And what about IM clients?...

I don't think you'll find Firefox or IM for iphone, not even for unlocked one. Iphone uses Safari which is pretty good. I read a while back that there's a way to do im with google chat or something similar, maybe someone else can shed some light on it. Other than that, you'll have to buy text messaging service from ATT.

It looks like if you pointed your iPhone browser to your foxmarks webpage it would still work. Does it not?

Be careful about IM clients. Some of them work with SMS which means unless you have unlimited texting you could get an ugly surprise on your bill.

I think for the iPhone you are pretty much limited to what Apple makes available in the application store. I'm kind of surprised there isn't a chat client out there yet.

IM - Fring is being worked on. You can try it now from the app store (free.) Unfortunately the app stays running all the time in the background.

Minimo is the mobile version of Firefox (http://www-archive.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/) but it's only for Windows Mobile. Skyfire is another amazing browser, but I don't know if there is an iPhone version.

obviously since you have unlimited data packages you can use sites like meebo or other sites similar to that.

AIM is a pretty decent client if you're an AIM user
Yahoo's WAP browser isn't bad

Lots of IM clients available.

Only browser iPhone allows is Safari, which comes installed Apples SDK does not allow software that duplicates/replaces Apple's existing software (like IPod, Safari, etc).

skyfire is only out right now for winmo and symbian. Fennec, which is mozilla's mobile browser, is still in alpha, no one
I think winmo has the most browsers available right now, Opera, Operamini, Iris, Skyfire, minimo (which was abandoned), and PIE are the ones I know off the top of my head.

Safari is such an awesome browser I wouldn't think anyone would want a replacement well except for skyfire cause it is the only one right now that supports flash

I have AIM on my iPhone.

Firefox is working on a mobile version. But it is only in beta. I believe they were targeting Linux and Windows Mobile systems.
