It's funny how they try to appear casual like they know you and everything, but the very casualness of the business email is what first sets you off. I have a hard time taking business related emails seriously when they're not grammatically correct or horribly misspelled.

I was talking with a (supposed) woman from Craigslist who wanted me to do some event (cheerleading) photography for their local team. Although I tried to remain professional throughout, not once did this person give me their name, and they never directly answered my questions. Like, where was the event going to be held? And various other seemingly important details. Plus, they seemed to be more interesting in what sort of equipment I tote than actually getting me to the event in the first place.

But it was their nonprofessional demeanor that first set me off. For example, one-line, simple emails like, "do you have fast glass?". Period. Nothing else. hahaha Needless to say, I ended the relation with a professional reply that I would not be available to shoot for them.

I usually quote them my date rate of $136,000USD and see if they get back to me. I had one who said OK and then the fun began.

Hey Chris,

I'm not international like you are. The furtherest away birthday event I've had was from a book author in Arkansas. They actually had the event in Texas though.

I'll be looking for those photos from paradise!

Well, you've got the date and the place: there is a reception hall at that address http://www.adorahall.com/
So you could always check and see if some foreigners that can't spell english booked a party that day.
