Ansel Adams Display in Longview - 12-01-2008, 12:59 AM

The Longview Museum of Fine Arts is having an exhibit of Ansel Adams photographs through December 21st. I went by Friday to check it out but they were closed for the Thanksgiving holiday and since I work out of town I can't go again until the 13th. I have not been able to get any information about the exhibit yet but they are advertising it as "Fabulous Works by Famed Photogrpaher Ansel Adams". If anyone has seen the exhibit I would appreciate any information.

If anyone else is in the area and is interested the Longview Museum of Fine Arts is located at 215 E. Tyler St., their phone number is 903-753-8103, and their hours are Tuesday-Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Saturday Noon to 4 PM.

They had a big gallery showing while I was in Vegas, but I didn't get to check it out. Still bummed about that.

I went today-a week early.

I am so glad that we went. I can't express how much I enjoyed seeing so many of Adam's prints in one place. Inspirational is an understatement.

If you can, GO SEE THE EXHIBIT!

Wayne, I am glad you enjoyed the exhibit. I have not been able to get any feedback from anyone on the exhibit and I was afraid it wasn't worth the effort to go. Though I live in Longview I just never expected them to have anything of this quality. Since I work out of town I don't know what is going on in my city but my wife apparently saw an add in the Longview paper and told me about it.

I am still not sure my wife knows who Ansel Adams is but it probably attracted her attention because my middle name is Ansel. I wished I shared more than just a name and love of photography with Ansel Adams but I sure have none of his skills.

Darn, I wish they were keeping it a bit longer than the 21st, I'm going to miss seeing it by just a few days.

Jeff, go! It's only 4 hours each way. Gas is cheap. When will 50-60 Adams prints be this close again?

Well, I can't go this weekend because we've got plans for my b-day. I'm not sure if I can justify going the weekend before Xmas when we'll be there again a few days later. It's tempting though. I wonder where the exhibit is going next? With my luck if I did make the drive up they'd end up bringing it to Houston next month... :)

I have written the museum asking if they know where the exhibit is going next but I have not received a reply. If I do hear from them I will pass on the information.

What better birthday present?????????????????

I do understand. A shame you'll miss it. And yes, the exhibit would come to the Houston area if you made a special trip.
