This is mostly geared towards photographers that photograph models. I know weddings, engagements, and family portraits are different.

But what is everyone's turnaround time for processing pictures for a shoot with a model? The reason I ask is that one of the models I have used previously mentioned to me that they were still waiting for their cd with a photographer they shot with after me. I gave them their cd about a month ago, about 6 weeks after the shoot. According to my math, they have been waiting for their cd for about 8-9 weeks. Is it just me, or is that ridiculously long turnaround time?

I know that people get busy, things happen, and sometimes we put too much on our plate at once (I am definitely guilty of that). But 8-9 weeks for a model shoot?

I tell them it is usually 2 weeks - 2 months for all the edits, they get small proofs within 1-3 days.

For paid work my turn around is typically less than 3 days, but I promise 5 working days from the time I get the order. For TF work (rare as it is...), I promise two weeks after they give me their choices UNLESS they delay more than a week after the shoot. Then they get their images when I can get to them. Typically that's another week or two, but it depends on how much paid work I have going.

Believe it or not, it takes longer to get selections from paid shoots most of the time. I had someone come back to me 10 months after a sitting they paid for up front. Crazy...

I don't shoot models, but for family/child portraits I promise 1-2 weeks for online proofing/ordering and 2 weeks to delivery.

I get the proofs up within 24 hours and then tell them 10 days to 2 weeks for the finished product.
