So my lower side has been telling me lately that is time to upgrade the 'ol chair . As much time as us photogs spend in front of the computer I figure some of you guys have some good opinions, and, if nothing else experience with different models.
Anyone have a specific model that you really like or is supposedly better for some reason or another?
I know its a bit of a random question but I have faith you guys will come through!

well, i pretty much spend my entire day in front of the computer - and the one thing i can tell you is - when your lower side starts hurting...time to get up and move around. i worked my way into a pinched nerve in my neck last year...
any chair that offers support and adjustable height will do but you have to get up once in a while.

At work they are pretty anal about ergonomics, and recently I got a new chair:
Aeron by Herman Miller. I'm sure they aren't cheap. But even a great chair won't help if you don't get up every once in awhile and take a walk and stretch.

I wish I could afford a nearly $1000 (or more) office chair for my home use.
As a side note, I stumbled across this link with some good holiday prices... I have never purchased anything from them, so I cannot vouch for their quality of service. http://www.hightechseating.com/index...FQkiagod_Bg3JA

Awesome chairs!
I use to have one of those when I worked @ BMC Software.....
Well worth the money, just like the red ring around the L glass..... think about it that way.... but this ring is around your back instead!

I found a decent chair at Ikea. The key is forcing yourself to SIT UP STRAIGHT. Seriously. It doesn't matter how fancy the chair, if you slouch or lean forward for hours at a time, you will be in pain. Sit up straight and get up every so often and walk around. Touch your toes and stretch a bit.

My dad's office uses the Aeron chairs in all of their editing, sound and conference rooms. They are sitting there about eight hours a day, but it doesn't seem to bother them as much with these chairs. They are pretty darn comfortable too.

the chair at costco is great. runs about 260 and well worth it. Much better than the 400 dollar chair I bought at the office store. If you can find a used office furniture store you might be able to get a really good deal on a great chair.

I know it sounds crazy but one of my friends sits on a jumbo exercise ball. It's pretty comfy and forces you to sit straight up with good posture. It also helps you develop your core muscles and that helps your back all around. It's pretty cheap too.

I may grab one of those Aeron chairs after Christmas. I have used those before and really like them so its probably going to be worth it.
I have to admit the exercise ball does sound kind of fun though, I think I would be bouncing around the room instead of editing though.

I haven't used one, but a quick search turned up this: http://www.gaiam.com/product/fitness...Sellers&page=1
And it's got a 4.6 out of 5 rating.
