ok, ultra high speed video cameras, but this is totally awesome.

Look it up: "Time Warp", Discovery channel

these guys film all sorts of stuff in 4kfps (et al). bullets, swords, barefoot skiers, sizzling butter, a drum set cymbal, bursting soap bubbles.....

how do i get a job like this?

Have you seen Deconstructed? That is on our TiVo list. If we only received History, Discovery and National Geographic everyone in the house would still be happy.

+1

Rarely miss it... some cool stuff, and some science mixed in - not just fun blowing stuff up in slomo. LOL

Last night's show had a special verison of the camera (attachment?) that could "see" temperature differentials as little as 0.25 degrees, and therefore pressure gradients (pressure changes change the air temperature).

So we not only saw the requisite wave front of a bullet, but also the escaping gas during a balloon being punctured and popping.

And don't forget the sight of a drumset's cymbal. You have no idea how MUCH deflection that things sees! No wonder they go bad over time......they work harden. (a large cymbal 16"? was shown to deflect i would guess about 3" when hit) Watching the deflection wave move across and around the cymbal was truly eye-opening.

Pure geek. Love it.
