so - i'm trying comcast...alongside my dsl (which i cleverly did NOT cancel)
so yesterday, i'm trying to send email...no go.
all day...
they have my outgoing port blocked.

how cool is that? i am soooo pissed off right now. | Aside from their abysmal customer service & products, which port are you trying to send out email? I know a lot of ISPs block certain ports to prevent spam and have more control over what they want to get in/out. You can either proxy it, or use an online email client like gmail to send your email through.

we had a HUGE fight with Time Warner - I was calling everynight - speaking to a manager everynight - it was AWFUL! They said some wire was disconnected in our apartment buidling so they had to send a specialist which would take several weeks - turns out - NO - the install guy just forgot to flip a switch and desided to blame it on everyone but himself - so a month and a half of calling, complaining and ranting and then Oops! Grrr.
Now - we have nothing except our antenna - and its great :) | | | |

FWIW, we just switched to AT&T Uverse on Friday. I'll have to say that I'm impressed with the image quality and overall channel lineup. They switched the DSL service from their phone line based to the Uverse based service. It seems to be a bit quicker.
We dumped ComCrap about a month after they took over Time Warner's territory here in Houston. Besides the service and reliability going from crappy to crappier, they raised the rates.

Like you said, Comcast has gotten worse and worse since taking over for TWC. Service, reliability, quality everything down the tubes all while constantly raising the rates and taking away channels. | | | |

I use Embarq DSL here and have not had a problem in 5 years! Well except for one Static IP change but that was nothing more than changing the IP on my end! I from my understanding they do not block anything coming to me! And 10 Mbit coming soon to my area! | | | |

gads, i've had t-w/comcast since day 1. never any issues here. the phone support helped me get thru more than a few pilot-error issues when we went wireless back in the day. They've also helped me fix a few other issues over the years.
yes, some times i spent more time than others on hold, but all in all, no major issues here.
