Photo Ops: Memphis to Nashville? - 12-15-2008, 09:50 AM

I am going to be making a quick trip from DFW to Nashville the week after Christmas. I will have a half-day to drive around and see the scenery and shoot some pictures. Having never been that way before, I not not sure what to expect.

Anyone have any favorite places between Memphis and Nashville that aren't too far off the beaten path (I-40)? I really like to find a place to do some hiking if its not too cold..below 40F. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I drove through the area quickly on the way to a tech school last year. Plenty of barns and stuff. Can't remember any specifics though.

Hi there...

If you have a GPS, go to www.poi-factory.com, register, (It's free)
& download one of my three poi files I have there.

1.) Nashville Attractions 26 included, way fun!!!
2.) Nashville Celebrity Driveways - Plz No Stalkin, just Gawkin!!!
3.) Rise of the Southern Biscuit tour - Contains some of the best eateries with Biscuits...

If you want to send me some of your info, and perhaps we can meetup for coffee and snapping, somewhere along your journey?

Thanks Brian and Dan for the replies.

I guess I am looking for barns, lakes, etc. I am now looking into Natchez Trace State Park. That looks pretty promising.

I won't lie though, I am also highly motivated by the Southern Biscuit tour. Now THAT'S are reason to buy a GPS right there. :-)

Actually there is a POI file for the Natchez Trace already up there.

Just do a search for Natchez, and it should pop up!

If you do not already have a GPS, I highly recomend 'em.

Especially since you can load them up with custom poi's and they are now costing
under a hundred all over the place...

If I can help in any way, let me know...

Travel safe, and Happy Trails...

Darren, there are some things to see in Jackson. IIRC, there is a steam train you can shoot.
