Grand Canyon Skywalk??? - 12-19-2008, 09:58 AM

Anybody ever been? I saw a thread about it from early last year but no followup on whether anyone actually made the trip. I'm trippin out on the fact that cameras ARE NOT allowed. The owners of the skywalk will take your photo for a $40 fee.

Also seems that there are some hidden fees that are not explained to you when you purchase your admission ticket. The ticket is in the $30 price range, but then there's the $20 parking fee plus the $35 shuttle fee...per person

Can anybody who's been say that this is actually worth it?

I'm road trippin next weekend to San Fran and the Canyon is one of my stopover spots.

Was there before walk built.
Nice view but there are many others just as good or better.
I have heard the no camera and excess fees are how the Indians scalp Whiteman.

You really should try H copter in canyon or shoot up from the river for great shoots ...

If it is as much fun as riding one into Kilauea's crater, then it will be well worth the money.

You call it fun NOW. Were you callin it fun at the time?

I was in Yosemite and hopped from one ledge to another to get a better shot of the thousand foot drop-off below where I was at. It was only about a 4-ft leap. Took the shots and upon realizing that the ledge I jumped from was about a foot and a half higher than the one I was on I wasn't in so much of a beautiful place anymore. There was a way off of the ledge but it was thru some pretty nasty brush. After about a minute of debating I took the jump back. Now I'm back to talking about how beautiful it was.
