I gotta have my SpongeBob

I know there are two sides to this, but they should have come to some type of agreement by now

I can assume you I will no longer have Time Warner if I can't have Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert! Where will I get my fake news that's better than the real news from?

I don't watch any of them so I could really care less, but asking for a 36% increase in fees during a economic crisis doesn't seem like the smartest thing to do. All increases are passed on to the consumer and when your prices go up, you force consumers to look elsewhere for services.

I switched from DirecTV to Verizon FIOS because DirecTV was costing me $80 per month (I don't have HBO, Showtime, etc.) and by switching to Verizon FIOS (HD tv, phone and internet) I save about $100 per month.

When we saw this go across the screen this morning, I looked up some news stories, and yes, Viacom is asking for a fairly large increase in fees. Time Warner says that if they accept it, they will have to raise cable rates, and as someone who has seen her cost of doing business go up in the past year, I get that. So... my kids will be unhappy if we lose all those channels, but I also can see where TWC is coming from. Neither side seems to want to negotiate.

just had AT&T Uverse installed yesterday

so far better quality than Comcast, and a few new HD channels that Comcast didn't even carry.

The loss of the nick channel would be bad for my 12 year old daughter. So I guess it's a good thing I'll be turning in my Comcast box and stuff.

Comcast has done nothing but raise prices since they took over, and their quality is crap. Comcast also refuses to allow the NFL Network to be part of their "Standard" package, you have to purchase the Sports Tier package to get it/ugh.

Wow, that's terrible. We watch Nick all the time. My boys are going to be very upset. SpongeBob is their favorite show. Personally, his laugh is really getting to me, but I will miss Drake and Josh and iCarly.

Cable rates are too high as it is.. I won't be sad to lose any of those channels personally. Maybe VH1 Classic...But that is it. MTV needs to change it's name and has needed to for a LONG LONG time. Nick may be missed by my kids, but I'll just grab a couple of DVDs and rip them to my PVR.

Belo, MTV, and Comedy Central all asked for a lager sum of money from Time Warner in order to broadcast their signals. Time Warner has no other option but to pass along the cost of doing business to its customers. An agreement was reached by all parties prior to the midnight deadline and no service was lost.

If my rates raise yet again for a bunch of channels that I could care less about, I'll just drop them. No biggie.

except when they're channels that are considered "basic" cable and you can't filter out channels you don't want/watch...I wish you could.

I've never had issues with TWC and we've had them since we first moved to Hawaii in 99. I wont be missing MTV. I havent watched it since it was cool and actually played music and still had headbbangers ball and matt pinfield. I might miss VH1 for I love the 80's and such shows. I dont care for nick or comedy central, but my son does watch noggin all of the time, so he will have to learn how to like the disney channel or something. I also would have been upset if we lost spike because I like watching UFC. But there are no cancellations now so it's cool. I'll have to see what happens and how much it goes up to see what actions I might take. But I think Viacom is being way too greedy.

My DH works for ATT installing U-verse... and he hears some horror stories all the time about TW/Comcast customers.... usually when he's hooking them up to the super uber U-Verse that is NOT FREAKING AVAILABLE IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD YET!!!

I can not maintain my sanity if I don't have Noggin to keep the ankle biter distracted every once in a while... ;-)
