I will be heading to the Galapagos in March/09 and would like
to know what to expect. I'll be taking two camera bodies, but what lenses should I expect to be using.

For those that have been there, how did you like it and what would you have done differently or taken with you if you were going there again.

I haven't been there but you can expect penguins at the Galapagos Islands.

Sigh, that is a place that is high on my list - can't wait to see some images. I remember Joe Lorenzini had some spectacular images he posted in the last year from a trip. I'd do a search for them, as they will have good info on what he took and used. From everthing I've read, I'd definitely have my 16-35 and my 100 macro, as well a 70-200 or my 200 prime. A fisheye might also be really sweet to have along.

Hi Andre, there will be a lot of amphibious creatures that are not afraid of man, so they will be fairly reachable to photographers, so I've been told.
I am more needing to know what to expect as far as terrain and equipment that would be helpful to get the most out of the trip.
What kind of lenses will be more useful, 200mm, 400mm for a full frame camera. Will a wide angle be needed?

Thanks Lisa, I'll check out Lorenzini's posts. You seem to go wide angle which I like, but everyone I've spoken to focuses on 200mm as a sufficient range to capture the creatures.

I guess carry my 16-35mm on one of the cameras.

Use the forum search utility and search galapagos. You'll find all of Joe's images , and some more from Patti.
