Not recently... but we've had 3 in our state. I've seen the crater in Odessa, TX (yawn) but I didn't know about the one near there called Sierra Madera or the one up around Marquez in east TX. Interesting no?

I have been to the other two and I have been all over Marquez but didn't know a crater was there weird.

If you look at it on Google Earth it's barely discernible. If I wasn't looking for it I wouldn't notice.

Those are just meteor craters. Astoroids make major changes, like the Chicxulub crater (Dinosaur killer). Their impact sites are huge, ranging some times hundreds of kilometers in diameter.

True... Asteroid sounds better. or I screwed up or both...

I knew about the Odessa and Sierra Madera craters. I looked at Sierra Madera on Google Earth, trying to get an idea of what the area is like. I would like to visit these craters, along with the Winslow, AZ, crater. I can add this to my list of photo projects, along with hot springs and cities and towns. I just love unusual sites.
