copywrite question.... - 01-09-2009, 04:30 PM

I recieved an add request on myspace earlier today and not knowing who this person was, I went to their site and there was a "music video" on there that contained an image that I know to be copywrited and I know who the photographer is. There was no recognition for the photographer regarding that picture. I know the image is copywrited because the photographer used it as the cover for his book, and has it for sale and he states on his website that his images are copywrited.

I want to know if any of you would contact him or just let it go?

It's possible the photographer licensed the use to them, although unlikely.
Contact the photographer and let him/her know. Then it's up to them.

Copyright. Copyrighted.

I wrote the above copy, therefore it has been copywritten by me.

I went a head and emailed him with a link to the youtube video. I included in the email that I didnt know if he had given her permission to use the video, but I felt that if someone were using my work that I would want someone to let me know about it.

I agree, if someone was using my work and not giving me credit, I would want to know. Are people today just in a rush to get results, or are they lacking in imagination to use something of their own?

well the person using the photo in question is a singer of some sorts...not really my kind of music, and the video that was made was one of those anti-Iraq war, anti-President Bush and I personally dont think that this particular photographer would appreciate his work being used in a political manner like that.
