Goodbye Tex... Have fun at Rainbow Bridge - 01-10-2009, 03:49 PM

My sweet sweet Tex... I'll see you soon. Have fun playing with Snoopy, you never got to meet him but he was mine too before we rescued you. You'll love him, he's a crazy cocker spaniel that had more energy than any single dog should.

You'll be able to keep up with him though now. We had you for 17 years and I know that is much longer than we should have and way longer than most people ever get with their best friend.

You will always be on my heart and I will see you as soon as I get to the bridge.

love always... jason

The thing that I hate most about dogs is that they leave us way too soon. Sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry about your loss. They are truly family. My rescue pooch is 14 1/2 and I dread the day that I know is coming sometime.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss.....I had to put my shnauzer "Willydog" to sleep last August and even typing this I have tears in my eyes. He is probably the only creature on earth that I have ever loved with out an obligation or rule....unconditional they call it....I believe he was in my life to show me how to love and I will always miss him. A day doesnt go by that I don't miss his greating, his "doggy" smell and his energy......G*d Bless you Jason....and never loose that faith that says he will meet you on the other side of that bridge...Shalom

Thanks all..

This is a day that I thought would come 6 years ago before my parents adopted another puppy Cali (who is 7 now). That move gave Tex another good 6 years.

His health and energy just couldn't keep up with his desire.... even at Christmas he still spent time in the living room with us and tried to get fiesty with Cali. I made my peace with the inevitable more than a year ago. I don't know the details of what might have happened this morning to make my dad take him to the vet, but I'm sure it was something. He wouldn't have done it unless something was wrong... and at 17 yrs. it's the best thing to do.

Dad buried him in the backyard near Snoopy and the only fence line he ever ran. The sadness will last a few days but I am also relieved.

We rescued him from the Humane Society in Fort Worth from a litter of abused puppies that came in. He had broken ribs at 3 weeks and several of his brothers didn't make it at all. He lived the best life imaginable and that instilled the desire in me to rescue and adopt from the Humane Society.

Well... it's time to get back in the game.

Sorry for your loss. I've got five furry kiddoes myself and they are getting older and I don't look forward to the day when it is their time. Seventeen years...that is a long life. Cherish the memories.

So sorry for your loss. So hard to lose those faithful friends. I have a brood waiting for me at Rainbow Bridge too and facing 2 more joining them in the not too distant future (age). All were rescues. You had him a good long time, so remember the good times and keep the belief that you all will be together again someday.
