I wonder if Alton Brown is ever going do a show on it?

Yeah. Uh. No. I'm admittedly closed-minded. No.

I heard someone mention raccoon at a family reunion, and thought it was a joke. I laid eyes on it, and knew it had to be raccoon.

Not in my house.

I'd try it out. I've eaten snakes, squirrels, and even a rat (Viet Nam).
I've eaten alligator, ostrich, elk, deer, snails, eel, frogs, and other things I can't think of.

A cute little raccoon wouldn't be a problem.

As a fan of Brunswick stew (usually with chicken but originally with squirrel meat), I'd try it if the raccoon was cooked right! Whatever that means!

I'd eat it. I have eaten armadillo, dog, cow feet and pig feet with the hoof still attached, duck liver pat'e, almost everything CaptainTom mentioned, and every raw fish I can find that will be served to me. In fact the only item I have turned down in live (Yes Alive, moving and squirmy) octopus(South Korean delicasy).

As long it wasn't alive when I tried to eat it, I would try it.

yeah ummmmm...... I guess if our economy takes a REALLLLLLLLLY bad turn its always an option. I'd rather eat a raccoon than the family dog or our horses but things would have to get REALLY bad.......

It'll never be said of me that my dining horizons are broad. I live in Texas and don't eat Mexi-nese food (that is Mexican food or anything ending in -nese).

But man, raccoon? Really? I'm sure or at least I hope that the raccoons I see being served are farm-raised (sounds weird), as opposed to the little critters dumpster diving, knocking over my trash can and spreading its contents about the neighborhood (still a little upset about that), and ducking in and out of my nearest storm drain, but naw man! Won't do it. Seems too much like a rodent to me.

If you eat meat or meat-like substances, what's wrong with beef or chicken or pork or shrimp or even alligator or squid or frog. Plenty of options for us meatatarians.

Next up. Possum? Armadillo anyone?

I've had almost all kind of imaginable games since I was little.

Coons was fairly common in third world countries where you eat everything you get your hands on, but the scent gland really kills it if you don't know how to prepare it.

Since moving to the states, I prefer a nice juicy steak over these

Armadillos tastes like pork but Possum get stringy if eaten cold. Speaking of rodent, Nutria is good eating.

Well I know where all you folks that want to taste it can get you a raccoon or two. They are scarfing up all the corn out of my deer feeders. My trail camera shows them climbing up to the timer/motor and spinning the spinner which puts out more feed ... all night long. I was looking up what I needed to do to get rid of them and found that there isn't going to be much of a market for the skins this year. So, ya'll come and get 'em.

I'm pretty open minded and a vegetarian. I don't care what other people eat but that's just so sad.

I think I could knock that out. I've not had much that's considered "exotic" here in Texas, but I don't see why not. I've had gator, shark, buffalo and coral snake. No qualms adding Rocky to the plate.

I'm just appalled that you don't eat Mexican food. That's one of the major reasons I still live here.
