Anyone with inside info on the Woodlands Pavilion contruction? - 01-19-2009, 12:42 PM

My wife and I already bought tickets to see DMB on May 1st when they are scheduled to come here. Problem is, the Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavilion has the renovation/construction deadline (from the hurricane damage) as April 30th!

Does anyone have an inside track as to the progress and if it will open on time? We really are excited to see DMB in the "cooler" months vs August or Sept like we have for the last 3 years in a row. I really don't want it to be canceled, but it doesn't seem realistic that there'd be a major show the day after the deadline for the renovations!

Anthony -
I had seen on another forum that this will be the opening show since the damage from Hurricane Ike. And it is being touted as the first show of the the pavilion's 20th season and the first show with its new expansion.
So hopefully so...

One disappointing thing about the new reserved seats they're building- it's all one price level now (at least on The Warehouse). Last year there was covered reserved, uncovered reserved, and lawn. Now it's all covered reserved and lawn- so you can potentially pay the same amount for last row seats as for front row seats! With the way The Warehouse ticketing works, you put in your selection for the lottery, and if you get confirmed then you have tickets but you won't know where till about two weeks before the show. At least last year we knew we were confirmed for covered reserved seats and knew we'd have better seats than the uncovered or lawn....

They have to pay for part of the $9,000,000. being spent on the upgrades and damage.

I figured as much, still not cool tho! The frustration is mostly due to The Warehouse's way of ticketing and not knowing what section/row you're in till after tickets go on sale to the general public. We'll probably end up trying for TicketMaster as well when they go on sale, however they don't even list the show yet which is another reason why we're slightly concerned!
