A brief video from last night. - 01-25-2009, 03:08 PM

I was working last night and we had 2 major accidents simultaneously. When I was shutting down the highway, I put my Canon G9 on the hood of my car and let the video run. I forgot to switch it do HiDef, so the quality isn't that great and it was sitting on the hood of my running car, so...

This shows #1 of 2 Car Flight helicopters landing on the highway to pick up patients. The pilots are amazing. It was very dark and they landed over billboards and power lines. Amazing talent.

A zoom in to see the accident closer then zoom out to see the copters landing might be more effective in story telling visuals.
Canon G9 Huh ...

Unfortunately, I didn't have that luxury while I was working. I had to set it on the hood and walk away until I was done.

The one complaint I have with the G9 is that it doesn't let you zoom while recording. I did try to set it up zoomed in but because of the darkness it wouldn't focus properly.

It's an expiriment. Hopefully I can use it in the daytime nexttime. I know it is sharp and great quality video in the daylight.

Thanks or looking.

Medivac pilots are amazing. They routinely make landings and runs in weather and situations that are outside the boundaries of what would be considered "safe flight conditions".. They save countless lives every day.

Thanks for sharing.

stupid drunk drivers. I hope everyone was ok and it was nothing too serious. I love medivac pilots, they're fun and some of the flight medics/nurses can have a pretty good sense of humor.

Cool..

I need to start keeping my LX3 with me. The 720P video on it is surprisingly good in low light. But as you mention with the G9...the LX3 is the same...no zooming once recording started.

Thanks for sharing... Looks like you're staying busy with your new job.
