My family & I are taking a trip with some friends to Questa/Red River, NM. We're leaving on or around March 13. Can y'all suggest on things to do while we're there?

We have 4 year old twins and a 2 year old. We are also looking for a place to stay. Something with a kitchen preferably.

Thanks a bunch!

If it's still there, there used to be a game hall with lots of old video games and I think bowling and maybe bumper cars. Something we used to do quite a bit when I worked in Cimarron for a few summers was rent scooters and ride around town...probably not good for the kids, but awesome for the adults. They also rent 4-wheel bicycles for town and 4-wheelers and jeeps for trips into the mountains. Taos is not too far away, so if you or the kids get bored, I recommend a side-trip. Rio Grande Gorge is not too far away either, for photo opportunities. Couldn't tell you much about lodging, but I do know there are cabins for rent, so I would think there is something with a kitchen available. Keep in mind, it's been a few years since I've been there, so it may have changed. If it's still there, Texas Red's is a great place to eat. If you go to Taos, look for a place called Outback Pizza on the north end of town. They encourage writing on everything with crayons, so the kids will love it, and they have awesome pizza.

There used to be a fun tubing hill in Red River - don't know if it is still there or not. The 4-year olds could do it but not from the very top and I say that from experience, as my nephew learned that the hard way. Get them some of those little plastic discs to sit on and start them way lower down on the hill and they'll have a ball. Just make sure the big kids are not bombing down the hill at the same time. The kids ski school was okay as well - there will be lots of kids around, since you are hitting spring break week. Last time (only time) we went, we rented a condo and I'm sure there are plenty of rentals available online. With little kids, it's a much better deal than a hotel - if for no other reason that being able to feed them breakfast and dinner without having to get everyone dressed and out the door. I don't know if Red River has this or not, but we've loved going dog sledding at Vail and Breckenridge. That is a blast with kids. Hope you have good snow. I'll be in Vail that same week and hoping for the same there.
