The main road in/out of Chama has been paved since forever. Side roads are a different story. I recall the road west from Bandalier N.M. toward Jemez Springs wasn't paved as late as the early 90s. However, it appears to be paved now according to the legend on Mapquest.

Yes, that's Highway 4. I drove on it last November. If you go up 126 from La Cueva (off Highway 4), you would supposedly hit unpaved road after about 4 miles. Keep following 126 and you would reach Cuba.

Thanks! I love unpaved roads.

Wait a minute!

Hwy 126 is probably the road we took between Bandalier and Durango. Great road when the weather is nice.

I went up 126 to get to San Antonio Hot Springs. The Springs are located past the end of a forest road that cuts off 126 (the forest road is unpaved and rocky!). The pavement cuts out of 126 a few miles past the forest road to the Springs.
