Unhappy Well, crud.... - 02-04-2009, 07:07 PM

Well, the ex just dropped my 4 year old daughter off for her 2 nights here and she had gotten a haircut. So I get out my Olympus FE-310 to take a picture. OH, NO! The LCD is broken! Cracked! All messed up!

*sigh*

I really love this little camera. Now I gotta find out how much it’s gonna cost to get it fixed, and just where I’m gonna come up with the money to repair it. And the money issue is gonna be interesting since money is tight enough already. I’m on medical leave right now from work and my long term disability is only 60% of my base pay! Life just isn’t fair sometimes...

I'm sorry to hear that. I know about money being tight, too!

Sadly buying a new one would probably cost less.

And I got the bad news back in an email this morning.

The cost of repair for the FE-310 is $ 58.85, plus your local sales tax.
Ouch. At 7% sales tax in my county that comes out to $62.97, plus S/H to get it to them.

So I was a bad boy and am delaying a few bills until my IRS refund gets in in 2 weeks and got a Kodak C913. Then when I get the IRS I’ll catch-up and get the FE-310 fixed too. Can’t have too many backups, right? And maybe I'll get my FE-210 fixed too so my son can have it. Yah, right!

Man, I’m such a baaaaaad boy.

Thanks. I thought I was being bad going ahead and buying the Kodak so I could get my "fix"!

Although I did drool over some of the more expensive toys....

The good news is the new camera works. Here is a picture I took of the back of my computer desk:

That is a picture of Mark Twain glued onto a magnetic calender from last year. I wish I had more of them, they were just a hair under 4"x6" and perfect for that....

Anyway, I have the picture of Twain there to remind me not to give up. He suffered many setbacks, both to situations beyond his control and those he caused himself. But he never just stayed down and gave up. He got back up, brushed himself off, and started all over again. A good lesson if you ask me.
