HA! I guess if the storm walked in the front door and started doing damage from the inside out the windows would be relatively safe

snopes.com addressed this photo...

According to them, an engineer told them that the window frames wouldn't support plywood mounted from the outside so they had two choices... do nothing and let glass break and spread it all over the store.. or board from the inside and keep the glass relatively isolated to the front of the store.

Which would you choose?


(Still a damn funny photo, though.)

Haha, I saw this type of boarding up the windows all around town. I figured it was because they couldn't board them up on the outside for some reason.

Get another engineer! You shouldn't mount the plywood to the window frame anyway! You need to protect the window from breaking AND from blowing out. The entire window (frame and all) could blow out if pressure starts to build up due to another breach.
