Abel,
I learned a long time ago, KISS, no, I don't want to kiss you, but keep it simple silly (grin). You're in the right direction. I get a lot of free stuff, but I prefer to carry my Leica M8 Rangefinder (digital) with two lenses, 90mm F/2 and the 21mm as they take up very little room in my camera bag. Most of the time I'm shooting with the Canon 5D and my 85mm F/1.2 or the Canon 70-200 IS L F/2.8 USM and all those other letters, and that's all I need.
Back in 1994 when I was still a U.S. Army active-duty, combat photographer, I went to a Dept. of Defense Combat Camera Workshop where we worked with civilian photographers Eli Reed, James Nachtwey, Susan Biddle, Mary Lou Foy, Bernie Boston and others and they all said, lighten your load to two camera bodies (one as a back-up) and two lenses and one flash unit. Remember, this during film and some digital back then. The funny thing, the U.S. Army gave us anything we wanted, practically. So ever since then I lighted my load and I have camera bodies and lenses here at the house not being used.
Now I have tons of lighting gear, but that comes with sponsorships and the fact I do workshops, but most of the time I use simple one-light setups unless it's a commercial gig and it calls for more. Again, you're doing the right thing, all the best, rg sends! | | | |
