omg. I think I am starting to understand why pet photography is profitable. Those are so cute. I like the white fluffy one. She's so cute!

We got Goose a tag today and my kids got her a sweater b/c it got cold.

And I noticed - my 50mm 2.0 totally sucks on my ghetto camera. I left the E3 at the store and this body sucks. Its like me trying to think too early in the morning. Night and day. Never noticed it before.

Anyway, here is nutters. She's so grumpy with the kids. She doesnt like loud fast moving objects. And kids are both those things. She was sweet to both of them for 2 days, then my son ran through the house singing loudly and she wrote him off. Then my daughter ran toward her, and she's off the list now too. The little thing just growls. She's not snippy, but it reminds me of an old lady muttering, 'damn kids.' Any suggestions to get her to like them better?

Holly...

I think Chihuahuas are born with different temperaments...some are very "possessive" (as our Sarita, the "white fluffy one", a long-hair Chihuahua) that growls at everything that disturbs her or acts like they are going to take one of her dog (actually, "cat") toys. She will bare her teeth and growl or snap at you if you act like you are going to take something from her. Very much different than the brown one (Roxie), who is as loving to anybody who wants to be her friend. Your pup may have already made its mind up that it only wants to be handled by the adults in your immediate family and will likely steer clear of any kids in "self-defense"...it doesn't take much to injure a small dog like that. Good pics of the pup. You'll always have something to take pictures of on those cold, dark days. haha

PS...Heather - I bet "Pixel" gets a lot of attention, too! Very pretty pup!

...and I once told myself I would never own a Chihuahua!

You know, I said the very same thing! We put off getting a dog until we bought a house. So two months after moving in, we got River (Boarder Collie/Lab Mix) because neither Jeff or I wanted a small dog. Small dogs were yippie dogs, and the neighbors had Chihuahua's and they barked all the time! As River grew up, she became more Jeff's dog then mine. She can follow him around for hours! So fast forward a couple years later and someone dumped Pixel off at my office doorstep. I was with him for a few hours and was in LOVE with this little dog. I think he is actually a Chihuahua/Mini Pincher mix, because of his leaner build and cropped tail. He is MY dog. Unless Jeff has a blanket, Pixel is in my lap! His personality is in between the two of yours. He is very loving as long as he's not overwhelmed with people. However, if he is in my lap, covered up, and someone comes close, he growls and barks, even at Jeff(about the only time he does bark) He also growls if Brad kisses me on the cheek LMAO (Mrs. Brad and I get a kick out of that LOL)

Holly, one thing we do when we have a house full, is if Pixel growls, I give him to the person he growls at. It took Pixel about 6 months to warm up to Jeff, with kids, it may take longer. We crate Pixel during the day when I'm at the office. However, when we are home, we leave the crate door open. This is so he has a safe place to go to hide from, or to be out of the way.

I'd like to interject common sense briefly... IT IS A DOG!! They do not need cute clothes, dangling jewelry, etc. They also do not need people food. Dog food is specially designed for... DOGS!!!

Huge pet peeve (no pun intended) of mine. Actually had a friend ask me if I would take their family pictures with their dressed up dog. I told her I wanted no part of that pet humiliation!

Hehehe, sure they do!!! Pixel has about 4 sweaters, a jacket and a tshirt from Roswell NM!

In all honesty, I don't know about other breeds, but Chihuahua's get very cold, very fast! If Pixel does not have a sweater on, he is under a blanket, so we have learned to check before we sit. So why not make it fun! Now we do draw the line at feeding them only people food, they do get scraps, but they eat dog food.

Jeff...

I agree - up to a point. Dog clothing should be functional. The coat on our short-hair Chihuahua is very short so my wife puts a sweater on it in the winter months before she sends it outside to do "its business". When it comes back inside the sweater goes off. A dog that small with such short hair can't last very long in cold winter weather. The long-hair will go outside without a problem and without a sweater.

I couldn't help it when I found this one at the SPCA last year. I didn't even call my other half to ask permission. It's kind of like HONEY I have a surprise for you! Don't be mad.
He was mad for about five minutes.
Baby is her name. She is so spoiled it's not even funny.
I need to find some bluebonnets this year. Oh, wait she'll probably disappear in them.
