How many of you listen to music while taking pictures / walkaround photography?

Yesterday I used my Hasselblad 500c and went to the Sculpture Garden near the Museum of Fine Arts of Houston. I loaded up in the Ipod:

Brian Eno - Music for Airports
William Basinski - Disintegration Loops

Both are long, wordless ambient music passages. The slow, repetitive minimalist notes complemented the austere, overcast morning. Perfect for walking around with the Hassy. Time seemed to slow down, and I reached that Zen moment of stillness whilst composing; unheard of when using a digital SLR.

I highly recommend walking around with a manual focus camera and putting on some appropriate music for leisure shooting!

I think it's a personal preference. For me, I like to be a part of the environment when I'm just shooting around for fun ... music would remove me from the scene too much. For me, it's not just my eyes, it's my ears, too!

If I photographed places and things more often, I would consider it.

I've gotten to when I'm driving the back roads looking for landscapes, I turn off the CD player, air conditioner and roll down the windows. I can't imagine doing my night rambles in downtown Dublin with the distraction of music. I want to envelope my soul with the sounds and visions of the night.

Not in Dublin and to a member of the Church of St. John Moses Browning, who lives in Jeff Cooper's Yellow zone.

I've heard of some photographers who especially play music for a model, who use satellite radio so it is easy to get to a genre that is desired for the shoot. Personally, I have listened to music as I'd shoot, but only when I wasn't worried about having to listen to ambient sounds. I also listen to (photography) podcasts a lot.

I often listen to my iPod when out and about shooting, especially when I'm at a park or the zoo. I keeps me moving. Oddly enough, I think it helps me focus on what I want to shoot.

My current favorite is Ray Charles, and his aptly named "Genius Loves Company" record.

Sometimes I Do, sometimes I Dont.

One of my long term projects is to take a picture that, for me, evokes each song ever done by Rush. Each picture will have to be taken while listening to that song.
But just think, how do you get a picture of "Didects and Narpets"?
