I have no idea, but it seems like it would be a good question for the Adobe Support Forums.

Let me know what you find out. I have CS2 and CS4. I'm liking CS4 and think it is time to reclaim the hard drive space.

I sent Adobe a message about 2 hours ago and haven't heard back from them yet. Anybody over messaged them before? What's their normal turn around time to reply to messages?

I used the portal on my recent install problems. A response would normally take 8 or 10 hours I think, although they promise within 24.

As an aside, I'll throw in that I registered CS4 and Adobe sent me several options as a benefit. The one I took was a free month at Lynda.com. I'm using that for my CS4 training.

CS3 should open up anything that was created in CS2. If you have plugins or any custom functions though you might see if they can transfer or you can re-download them if they were created by someone else. I always like getting the software discs as opposed to downloading though, easier to go back and reinstall if necessary.

Also, warning on CS3, I had a terrible time installing it on my system (Windows XP), it was getting hung up on any residual macromedia or adobe files (took multiple tries and many days and booting my computer into safe mode to figure it out). Not everyone has this problem (i.e. everything installed on my bf's computer fine), but it's a big PIA if it happens to you.

Did you ever hear back about what uninstall process is best on the older version?
