I am just wondering if I just got a load of S--- from the sprint Service person. My phone would not connect, the second phone did not either. Yes the bill is paid. Since I only have cell phone service I got on sprint.com Service and chatted with a service person. She says we are in part of a nationwide outage and it could be 48 hours before we will have service. My daughter has service in Phoenix. So are you in the outage too?

I've been with them for 11 years? maybe 12 not sure exactly. But I know when there's been an outage (I.E. Ike) I set my phone to roam and picked up on a Verizon tower and was able to use my phone. No there were no roaming charges, I don't know if it's a new thing or if I've just been with them so long, but I haven't had roaming fees in 2 years. . . and there are times the phone tells me I'm roaming, but the bill has never reflected the additional charges it used to. | | | |

It would appear that the tower in my area was not working. That was all I wanted to know from Sprint when I checked with the service dept. BUt she changed and then said nationwide outage and I didn't think I could drive where I could get service. But I went out this afternoon and reached Plano where the phone worked fine. I *hate* Sprint with a passion. They can't fix their own stuff... my husband and I are on a family plan and we could be standing next to each other in the room---- I call him, I hear ringing, I get his voicemail, leave a message... and the entire time, his phone hasn't rung, no missed calls registered on his phone, and my message isn't in his mailbox. He's gotten chewed out by his boss for "not being available" on his cell because of this crappy service. We've replaced our phones SIX times in 2 years.... have downloaded new software updates, etc... changed phone styles... nothing fixes it.
Most recent call to their service dept---- just wanting to get the contract expiration date and ask a few questions to make sure we don't have to put in advance notice of cancellation, etc.... and wind up with one of their reps trying to ARGUE with me when all I wanted, was an answer to a simple question.
