Talking Texas School: Hotel - 02-25-2009, 10:56 AM

I booked our room this morning - and am SO excited now. I'm rooming with Joanne this year.

That said - I am a HUGE advocate of Priceline. I've used them the last 5 years or so to book hotel stays - and other than a yuck hotel in El Paso - have had WONDERFUL luck in doing so.

So -- because I think results are more important than just talk... We are staying at the Holiday Inn Arlington-Northeast.... for....

$379 for the week.

That's not 'per person'.. that's for BOTH of us. *grin* So $190 per person for the hotel.... for a three star hotel. And you bet I'm bragging...

If anyone wants to know how I did it, PLEASE ask - I don't mind sharing and saving some of my fellow TPF - Texas School attending folks - some money.

Did William Shatner call you a mamby pamby? So how did you do it? I've never used priceline, but always looking to save money next time I vacation.

I was up in Dallas over the weekend, and used Priceline to get a room at the Westin at the airport for $50 a night. Priceline is great if you have some flexibility.

Isn't that the hotel where the Mad Ax Killer of Dallas was running around last fall?
They never did catch him.

There is a 'sister' site - that you use, just do a search for bidding for travel - and people post there what they actually PAY for a hotel through priceline.

I went, and someone got a $54 - Sheraton - in Feb, so I knew where my 'start' was.

I always start there to make sure I don't 'over' bid.

I tried $54/3.5 star for JUST Arlington (Priceline actually breaks up places like Arlington into three different areas, and you can pick which areas).

I was rejected.

So I did $56/3.5 star for Arlington, and Arlington NE.

I was rejected.

I did $64/3 star for both of those areas and this is what we got.

Considering the rooms are almost 2x that... *grin*.... I'm excited!

That HI is right at Six Flags.
Hope you don't mind a thousand kids running up and down the halls all night screaming and yelling....

Oh, you're moms ! Used to that, never mind.

Not during the first week of May when school is in session and Six Flags is not open.

Im thinking about going with one of these studio extended stay places...They are going for $40 a night. They don't provide a breakfast but they have kitchens in them....I can buy a whole lot of breakfast sausage for that $80 I save! They do have internet!

Do we have any other ladies looking to share a room (sorry, boys are icky... no can do)?

I booked the LaQuinta that's suggested on TSPP's site (I think it's 99 bucks a night), but I'm open to considering other things.

I'll have you know that I'm very clean, and I do not snore. Just FYI.
