Liberty Elaine Bramblett, born at 17:44 yesterday, 7lbs, 9.8oz.

I've only run some basic noise reduction on a couple of these, (after the blinds were closed, nothing less than ISO3200 had any chance) and nothing fancy yet. We wanted to get them online ASAP so the rest of the family can see.

Labor coach gets a first good look at the new arrival.

I think she likes the warmer.

Mother-daughter bonding begins.

So, if anybody wonders where I've disappeared to over the last month, or for the next 18 years, there's my excuse

Love the name 'Liberty'.

We wanted something traditional and meaningful, yet not so common that 137 kids would come running when we call her.

Besides, "Libby" works fine for the younger years, and she can always fall back on the relatively neutral "Elaine" if she wants to.

Hopefully, we've got at least a couple decades before we find out

I missed your original post, too. Congrats (as it still applies!).

About 10 years ago, I worked with a girl named Liberty (and, pun intended, I carried a torch for her briefly). We were both in our 20s and she went by "Liberty." Your daughter might become proud and protective of such a great moniker.

My only misgivings center on the fact that I've never met a "Grace" who wasn't clumsy or a "Chastity" whose number wasn't on the men's room wall.

OTOH, if she can grow up in my house and not be a Libertarian, she'll at least have the virtue of tenacity

Unless it's a truly bizarre name, I'm not sure it's going to signal how someone will turn out. I went to high school with a dude named "Phoenix," and he was one who lived up to his name.
