BF Goodridge - 02-27-2009, 01:51 PM

Does anyone know where to get a set of BF Goodridge Tires?
I looked online and it looks like Discount Tire might be the cheapest place at $125 per tire.
I just thought I would ask here in case someone knew of a different local dealer in Houston with good prices.
They are going on my wife '05 Tiburon GT.
215/45R-17

The reason I want BF Goodridge is because I drove them for 40k miles on my truck and they looked new when I sold the truck. My Dad bought a Blazer and put 100k miles on the tires and they still looked to be in good shape when he sold it to my aunt. My aunt of course bought new tires just to be on the safe side.

Thanks,
Sus

if you ask for BF Goodrich you might have better luck.

I just purchased tires from Firestone and they were having a buy 3 get 1 free sale and overall it was the cheapest of Discount Tires, etc. Also, check Sam's Club they generally have pretty good deals. When you are shopping make sure you ask for the total prices; mounting, lifetime balance and rotation, stems, disposal fee, taxes, etc.

on almost any brand, Discount Tire has been my choice for 20+ years.

Hey SuS,

Are you totally sold on BF Goodrich??

I use to have them on my 94 GT Stroker.. Like them but just didn't like the road noise and or the cornering.

I did alot of research into an all weather Ultra High Performance Radial and decided to go with these, --> Firestone WideOvals. Now, you might worry about the Ole' Firestone reputation. IMO these are very good tires.

In fact I liked them so much, I put them on my Mercedes Kompressor.. I don't have my Benz anymore and my 08 SAAB 9-7x won't need tires before it's time to trade it in; but If I had too, I'd buy them again and again..

Price is pretty comparable.. $130 -- $140/ ea.. If I can find my old research, and if you want it, I'll email you the links. Example.. Consumer Digest; Road and Track, Tire Rack, etc..

Just an offer..

I think discount has a pretty loose price match policy as well (loose in terms of just being able to show that you could go there and get them). I know that they will match the price on anything from Sam's specifically (at least when I last bought tires 3 years ago they would) to me this then becomes a no-brainer based on the warranty and road hazard that comes with them. I have had a few opportunities to have to use that warranty, and it is truly no hassle (show them the certificate from the glove box, and they fix or replace the tire)

I like discount tire co.

lol....thaks for catching that Ken. I don't know why but I always want to call them "ridge".

Thank you everyone for all the input. I think I'll be going to Discount Tire. There is one close to my house so I guess if something happens I can just drop in and get it fixed.

If you go with Discount, which I do for my tires, be sure to check prices on Tirerack.com and DiscountTireDirect.com. They will often meet you part way on price.

As for the BFGs, I hated them on my Mustangs, but like the 31" I have on my XJ.

Since you are in Houston with no snow, take a look at the Nitto 555s. I have been running them on my Cobra for a while now and love them. I have the 555R drags in the rear, which you should NOT run on your car, but even the 315s in those have been good in the rain.

Nitto Street Tires
555R They say low on wet traction, but my cars has 475 RWHP and I can drive it in the rain just fine.

The things I like about Discount Tire:

1) fast
2) good prices. sometimes, someone, somewhere can beat them by a small amount. Not often and the ability to followup at Brand X is dubious.
3) fast
4) they always have a close-by store. I don't like to run on the spare any longer than absolutely necessary. Get the original fixed asap and back on the car.
5) fast
6) no quibble road hazard. Running around railroad tracks a lot I've used this more times than I want to admit.....
7) did I mention they're really fast? I so hate to wait....

If I get there when they open, even if there is a line of people, they always take my car in first.
