OT: Need help converting PLT to EPS or Flexi - 03-02-2009, 04:22 PM

I know there are some graphic designers on this forum, and I'm wondering if I could get a little help.

The sign shop I work for has recently "acquired" another sign shop that was stuck in the 90's.

I need to convert approximately 2000 PLT files to EPS or AI files, or better yet, Flexi files.

Chris,

Did you also acquire the Gerber software that the plt files were created with? We use Omega 2.6 which does export to several formats, and also has a File Converter function to batch process multiple files at the same time. I have never used the conversion function, so I can't speak to its reliability. And I did not see the option to export or convert to Flexi, but it does support ai and eps.

The Gerber software is very proprietary thus it's native files are hard to deal with in other programs. I don't know Flexi at all, but is it possible there is a filter in it to import plt files?

Please PM me if you wish, or call our shop at 972-542-7927.

You might also try posting this at www.signs101.com. There are a lot of very knowledgable printers there and I'll bet someone has come up with a simple solution.

I just re read my post and realized that I got interrupted in the middle before I could finish.

I apologize if I sounded rude.

Thanks for the help...I do have the old Gerber software, but it's a very clunky program. I went ahead and just upgraded to the newest version of Flexi, and it will import the ..plt files.

Problem solved!

Thanks again!
