I have a friend in a video class. He is needing a place that is desert-like. It doesn't have to be all sand, just deserted, western, broken-down area. He needs some kind of building like a church or something.

The opening of Kill Bill comes to mind when he was talking about it. The church scene with all the killing at the very beginning...

Ive read of a ghost town either between here and college station or here and Abilene. I forgot what that place is called (if you know, tell me), but it should be similar to that. More suggestions than that town would be great though.

Thanks!

Fort Phantom Hill just north of Abilene? No churches but lots of building-less chimneys and a strong-house surrounded by cactus.

There are also a few ghosty towns northwest of Denton if you're looking for a shorter drive. Even Saint Jo, just west of Muenster, isn't really a ghost town but sure looks like it.
