i tell you - some people are just the lowest form of human flesh. i recently heard that someone had badmouthed me (just to someone else i know) because i asked them to pay me some money they owed me. lesson learned. never make a deal because someone is supposedly your friend. i am so mad right now i could spit nails. not over the money, i figured i would never get it but threw it out there since it was from back in september of 08. and i knew i wouldn't get it when i agreed to do the job, but i did it anyway because i thought this person was a friend.
i also thought i was a pretty good judge of character - i guess i suck at it. i'm as mad at myself as i am at them.
that's all rant over - so anyone been messed around by someone they trusted? | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Sorry to hear you had to deal with it though Janet..it just makes you so mad..because then you question your judgement and don't want to be nice to others...and that's the part that stinks...

I never deal with friends or family. I once borrowed money from a friend whose wife worked at the bank where I kept my money. Everytime I had enough money in there to repay him, she told him! This is illegal BTW!! They didn't consider I had rent and food to pay for, much less the fact that I was paying him back on schedule as we agreed! I lost a very close friend over it.
Since then, I won't even sell anything to a friend. I don't want something to go wrong with it and cause any heartache. Too bad people have to be like that. :-(

There is a bible verse, not to go all religious on you... but the verse is this:
Proverbs 22:7 The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
There is a spiritual (regardless of your religion) issue about 'owing' someone money. If you've ever 'borrowed' money from family or friend, and you haven't paid it back - you know what I"m talking about.
It changes the dynamic of the relationship - like it or not - YOU are this persons 'master' and they feel like a slave.
Don't loan money to friends or family.... give it to them... it'll cause you way less stress.

Just a few weeks ago, my pastor said,"If you don't want to see a family member any time soon, lend them a fair chunk of money." I assume he was joking, but I've got a old roommate that owes me...Needless to say, we never hear from him anymore.
Its a sad thing. | | | |

if you knew you would not be repaid let it go as a lesson learned they were not a friend anyway. if it makes you feel better, go into your bedroom, turn off the lights and repeatedly kick yourself in the buttocks until you have a bruise the size of a small cantelope (unless you have enuf buttocks to handle a larger bruise). mine is starting to fade and turn that nasty yellowish color.......

Its a sad thing. | I've hard that.... someone said that they loaned their brother in law $250 and haven't talked to them since....they figure it's a fair exchange. ;-)

Of course that wouldn't help your business or friendship...but it sounds like your "friendship" is over anyway. Probably not a good example either...but fun to think about the effect it would have on the situation.

I've "loaned" one of my friends $500-ish over the course of 5 years. She always says she'll pay back, but I've never expected her to. It isnt money that I am missing at the moment. She'll probably never pay it back, but I've never asked for it. Thats kinda how I see things. I'll loan it if I dont "need" it and dont expect to be payed back. If I ever do get paid back, then it's a blessing.
