An application is an application is an application. For 2009 I count Red Hat=29 reported vulnerabilities, Sun=38 (include apps not just OS), Apple=33 (Includes apps like Safari).

What you will find with a little investigation is that that Apple release 8 patch bundles in 18 months, right. Microsoft release more than 18 patch bundles in the same period. Microsoft does break up it patch bundles a bit based on what is being fixed and how critical it is. Apple releases monthly patch bundles if it needs to. Sometimes more often, often times less.

There is no correlation in the operating systems on how or when such events occur.

What makes OS/X great is that it works when you get it home. You do not wait 8 hours for the operating system to finish installing and the taking out all the CRAP the OEM put on the system. You can browse the web, write an email, and edit pictures. Vista brought Microsoft a long way into this realm.

OSX, Vista, Windows 7 are simply tools. You use the right tool for whatever job you need completed. Each platform has its own shortcomings, but you manage with workarounds and other solutions.

I don't understand fanboys of either or any platform. You use computers as tools for the job you need done, then you get on with your life.

I just want to be able to resize my windows from any corner or side! LOL
Also, I wish Entourage wasn't such a unbelievably crappy app with regards to staying sync'd with Exchange (YES I KNOW it's a MS product). My company is pretty much now forcing us Mac users to use VMWare or Parallels with Outlook for our corporate email due to the headaches with Entourage.

I am a user of both platforms... and others. Windows XP 64-bit on AMD Phenom II Quadcore for my photography work. OSX and Macbook Pro for my day to day stuff, albeit with XP in Parallels for some things work related....

I enjoy the strengths of both platforms personally. As far as stability, my XP64 is every bit as stable as my MBPro. Both completely hang up on occasion, but for the most part, they both do a very fine job.
