It's a happy, rainy day! - 03-16-2009, 01:34 PM

Well, it might be an overcast, cool, rainy day here, but it’s a good day to me. My Olympus FE-310 and X-775 cameras are back from getting their LCDs repaired! My babies are back home.

So now I have 3 point-n-shoot digital cameras. I’m gonna let my son use the X-775 when he’s been good and done homework and chores. I’m gonna use the FE-310 and my Kodak C913 equally and decide which will be my primary camera. I like the ease and layout of the FE-310 controlls, but the C913 has better battery life. It’s going to be a tough choice and a long testing period. (Please don’t throw me into that briar patch!)

And to top it off, I got 5 cheap (~$4.00) point-n-shoot 35mm cameras at Goodwill. They are all the same model. Why did I get them? To try to convert one into a pinhole camera. The others are for the inevitable parts and backups that a project like this involves knowing me.

Oh, what a fun day for a change!

Michael

Have fun with that pinhole challenge! I love pinhole cameras.

I actually got the first one apart and removed the leaf shutter. Then I punched out the plastic lens and installed the homemade aluminum can pinhole. Finally I was able (after about 20 minutes) to reassembled without losing any parts or slicing myself open.

Big tip to pass on, the lances for my diabetes test kit works great at making a pinhole!

Now I gotta add the T-Nut so I can mount the camera on a tripod and I'm good to go!!!

Waiting for a sunny day now....

Michael

Michael, that's a great tip with the lances! Never thought about it. Are you a big little-cam-tinkerer?

Nah, I'm just a tinkerer in general. Can't quite resist the urge sometimes to take something apart and monkey with it. Used to drive my parents nuts when I was growing up. I know just enough to be dangerous and not enough to get out of trouble!
