Good luck! I saw an interview with him. He made it clear, no one is going to short change him with a cheap or bargain contract. If he has to, then he'll take the year off.

I'd love to have him too...compared to what we have after Roy Oswalt. Although Hampton seems to be having a good spring training we'll wait and see about his durability.

Martinez, 37, an unsigned free agent, said Monday he is still hoping to pitch in the majors this season. But he said he would not be interested in a contract similar to that of Tom Glavine, who recently signed a one-year deal with the Braves.

Glavine's contract gives him a guaranteed salary of just $1 million, with another $2.5 million possible through incentives.

"I don't think I'm in that stage," Martinez said. "I believe I'm very comfortable. I'm not going to let anybody disrespect my abilities the way I am. I'd say no, that's it. I wouldn't say I want to pitch that bad."

Martinez spoke after working out with the Dominican Republic team, which will play in the World Baseball Classic later this week.

The Astros now have someone to pay attention to.

Roy O is great, but that is only 1 out of 5 games.

Pudge is the real deal. Even in the twilight of his career.

The only thing between him and the HOF is steroid rumors.

Hopefully he will overcome them.

Pudge is a definite upgrade and I'm excited to see him play for the Astros.

I'll give you Lance, he is a great player, but really is not that exciting.

Carlos is overpaid. I like him. I just don't think there is good value there.

Most pro players are really great at what they do. Even the ones that suck are amazing. They just suck at a very high level.

Pudge is a game changer.
