Going to Inks Lake. - 03-19-2009, 11:42 AM

So, i'm going camping this weekend. Leaving from NW Austin was wondering what the best way to get there for taking pics along the way. I was thinking of taking 1431 and finding a road that went from 1431 to 29. Any ideas?

CR 243 and HWY 281 both go between 1431 and 29. There are probably some other twisty roads you could find with a GPS. If you go through Marble Falls you won't be too far from Horseshoe Bay or the Longhorn caverns.

Take 1431 to Kingsland (west of Marble Falls on 1431), then turn right on FM 2342. This will turn into State Park Rd 4. You can stop by Longhorn Caverns. And, you'll get good view of the Castle. Stop by the Devil's waterhole overlook. Lots of good pic opportunities along that route.
