Wow - amazing images.

The thing that I'm curious about however - is why they have the packages of drugs one layer high on the floor with the guy walking all over them???

Thanks for the link. This has been making me nervous lately though, my parents live El Paso, and I worry about random acts of violence spilling over from Juarez. They've been across the border a couple of times since it's gotten really bad (during the day only) and have noticed that all the "touristy" spots are pretty much dead now. It's scary out there.

Unfortunately, it is getting worse. I just finished 2 long days of training last night with some officers from Laredo and McAllen. They both reported that in the last 6 months they have had a huge increase in murders and kidnappings linked to gangs just across the border. Apparently they are targeting business owners (and others with apparenty money) take them across the border to Mexico and demand money from the families in the US. Usually once the receive the money, they kill the victims and dump their bodies. Sometimes the bodies are dumped in Mexico and sometimes back in the US. Many Police and Sheriff's departments along the border are equipping like our troops overseas. It's definitely a challenging time in our history.

I love parts of Mexico, but I won't be travelling there anytime soon.

That is set up purely for a photo op. It's a farily typical setup in central and south America. In the US you will generally see huge stacks of drugs behind those giving a press conference. Just a different style.

I am thankful that I left El Paso 10 years ago. I hope things get better quickly.
