I am somewhat surprised by the cops actions, I've even had cops tell me if you have a medical emergency use the flashers and be safe. Had one escort me even, rolling through stops and all. Unfortunately this guy really seems to be on a bit of a power trip, he makes it very clear he what he can do and boy isn't he being a nice guy by not doing all of them. He basically forces the guy into submission doing that, not caring one little bit what the family is going through. Lucky for me most LEO's I've encountered are not like this guy, but really caring and helpful.
definately an a**hole on a powertrip. 25 yo cop, hired in jan of 06, still left with something to prove and the horrors of his high school bullying are still fresh in his mind. ridiculous. he's the kinda guy that gives ALL law enforcement a bad name. i hope he doesn't have a job in the morning.
As a former unarmed security guard, I've met a lot of these types that couldn't make the grade as a Cop. He sounds like one who slipped through the cracks and actually became a Cop. He should finish out his days as an UNarmed security guard on the midnight shift making minimum wage. Just my opinion.
Well what the reports aren't telling you is that the police officer was chasing the driver with his red lights and siren before this incident unfolded and didn't stop, including running a red light. The driver could have pulled over and told the officer what was going on. Would the officer have responded correctly? I don't know, but I'd say with what we see in this video there was enough blame for both sides. Everyone "acted a fool" in my opinion.
The full, unedited dash camera footage is right there next to the article.
Besides, once the obviously stopped at the hospital AND staff came out you'd think he'd have gotten the hint. I completely understand him being annoyed and even pulling a gun because who knows these days, but enough is enough. Yeah, both parties were foolish but he prevented them from seeing a loved one pass in order to 'make a point'.
And for the record, I have nothing against most police officers. I have met a lot of good ones over the years.

I understand the Thin Blue Line, but the report says he followed him for 20 seconds with his lights, while Moats parked.
From DallasNews:
Quote:
He stopped at a red light, where, he said, the only nearby motorist signaled for him to go ahead. He went through.
Powell, watching traffic from a hidden spot, flipped on his lights and sirens. In less than a minute, he caught up to the SUV and followed for about 20 more seconds as Moats found a parking spot outside the emergency room.
From the Chron:
Quote:
Video shot by the police car’s dashboard camera indicated that Powell pursued Moats for about a minute, with lights flashing and most of that time with his siren blaring, before the player stopped his SUV outside the hospital’s emergency entrance.
Tonights interviews with the police chief and fellow officers showed that they were all embarrased at this officers behavior and that disciplinary action seemed certain for misconduct.
The dash cam video can protect the officer and it can indict the officer.
Would he have shot the guy if he had just walked into the hospital ?
