Do you have a CHL/CCW? - 03-31-2009, 05:50 PM

All that talk over here got me wondering about how many people here have CHLs/CCW's. Seems a lot of people here know about Concealed Carry laws in Texas. Personally, I've had a CHL since 2005.. which reminds me I need to get it renewed soon).

I don't have one, but it is something that I would consider.

Just to clarify mine isn't really a CHL it comes with the job. However I did have one before all the laws were clarified nationwide on the ability to carry a concealed weapon.

Planning to start mugging photogs for their gear, and wondering about your odds of survival?

Well, that was the original plan, but now that I see that 87.5% of the people here either carry a concealed weapon or plan to, I will revert back to my old ways and go back to holding up pawn shops and liquor stores. Seems a lot safer.

Nah, it's just Texas.
Either you are armed or you are a walking buffet to the criminal element that is armed.

I've been told time and time again by visitors to Texas that they are amazed that Texans are so friendly (usually referring to areas outside the cities). And they also remark on the number of guns.
I always reply with the great maxim: "An armed society is a polite society"

And if I'm out shooting around town it's on me especially if my family is with me. However I always observe the gun laws where you can't carry so of course I don't carry in those places.

I finally got mine in a few months ago. Now I worry a little less about going to gas or to wal-mart after dark. My wife is getting her chl next.

Had it and let it expire. Planning on starting the process very soon to get one a gain. Specially now that I live in a more "urban" area of town.

Why not have an open-carry law on the books? Wouldn't that result in the safest, most civilized society if people are walking around, visibly armed?

I've had mine since I was 21 - been carrying since I was 18... illegal though it might have been, I grew up hearing the mantra "Rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6"...

It's a lifestyle choice - and can be inconvenient at times...but I don't worry about the car breaking down, or photo-driving at all (photo-driving is the Texas equivalent of photo-walking...)
