Stolen "HOPE" - copyright issue - 04-06-2009, 01:25 PM

Excuse me if someone has already posted this. It seems that image on one of President Obama's campaign posters was "stolen" from an AP photographer.

There has been a lot of talk about it.

The AP never had a contract with the shooter, so the copyright is in limbo.

All kinds of stuff at play.

There is also the defense that the picture was changed enough for different use.

Plus - there's the fact that this particular artist steals quite alot of his 'work'....

http://www.art-for-a-change.com/Obey/index.htm

It's like, dude... come up with your own crap versus taking someone elses and modifying it 'just enough' so that it's not the original idea....

Ummm... no.

Anyone that puts those two pictures side by side... know without a doubt that it's the same photo.

I don't think that is the standard for fair use.

Anyone that listened to Gangsta's Paradise and Amish Paradise knew right away it was the same music with similar lyrics, but it was clearly a parody and there was fair use.
