Beloved pet's killing reopens old wounds for former Navy SEAL - 04-09-2009, 09:58 AM

"All it took was the gunshot fired outside his Walker County home to trigger training ingrained in former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, the lone survivor of a dramatic battle in Afghanistan in 2005.
He did a sweep through the house. Checked on his mother. And bolted out the door, where he found dead his beloved Labrador retriever, Dasy, a dog given to him to help him recover from his own wounds and the loss of his fellow Navy comrades.
“I could tell she tried to get away because there was a blood trail,” Luttrell recalled in a phone interview Wednesday. “When I saw she was dead, the only thing that popped into my head was, ‘I’ve got to take these guys out.’ ”

Full story in Houston Paper.

The Sole Survivor - Account of Luttrell's action.

Something similar happened to a member at Nikon Cafe. His Brittany gave birth to a litter last year, and then killed all but one pup. he saved that one and he, his wife and daughter raised the pup. Soon after, his wife died, and a few weeks ago, some loser drove 30-40 feet up into his yard to run the dog over. It happened so quickly that he was unable to get a license number.

I can not imagine his heartbreak. I know if something happened to my dogs, I would be devastated! I'm glad he didn't shoot anyone, even if they deserve it!

This is just so wrong, and so heartbreaking at the same time.

I have no tolerance for people who are cruel to animals.

To bad he didn't catch up to them instead of the cops. If anybody did that to my dog they wouldn't be around to tell about it.

While it would be somewhat satisfying for these sorry pieces of $hit to suffer and die, I am glad that Luttrell did not harm them. They won't get as much punishment as they deserve, but Luttrell doesn't need any more problems (as he might have faced if he shot them).

This is such a sad story.

I only wish the ba$tard$ had hit a phone pole and died.

The sad part is that Mr Luttrell served to protect this scum. He's way more of a man than they will ever be.

Hopefully, in prison they will get to be more of a woman tho......

It is sad to have to hear about stories like this. I'm sure when he had come up on the car thinking if he should pull the trigger or not, the thought of taking a life trained or not, ate at him. My father took a life when our store was robbed and he was never the same. I'm glad that he didnt as he would be fighting more demons. Dont get me wrong, I say string them up and get Michael Vicks pitt bulls on them.

When those POS that killed his dog were arrested, they were screaming at Luttrell "When I get out, I'm coming after you."

Marcus turned to an officer and asked "Do you know who I am?"
"I do."
"Do you think I should tell them?"
"No, let them find out their own way."

I hope those bastards find out the hard way, who Marcus is.
