Dallas Fabric Warehouse - 04-13-2009, 02:07 PM

Just wondering if anyone knows of a place in Dallas to get Fabric that I can make backdrops with.... There was a thread a few days back that was talking about a place but I have not been able to find it again.... I am going to Dallas for Texas School and want to purchase some items while I am there!

The only one I can remember the name of is Golden D'or, but there there are several warehouses in the fabric district, down off Harry Hines, just south of Walnut Hill.

A couple of the big ones are ON Harry Hines, and the others are on a side street that runs kind of between the big ones.

I wish I could be more specific, but it's one of those "I know how to get there, but can't tell you exactly how I did it" deals....

Good luck! :)

You will need a double width bolt though.

Why do I know stuff like this? Somebody revoke my man card

Depends upon the size of the backdrop you are making. AND if you can put a seam down the middle.
8 Yards is a 10ftx9 backdrop. watch your patterns and the direction they are running.

I use Childress Fabrics, one in Dallas and one in Frisco. And I agree with manly Swatters about a double bolt, plus ask them to wrap it on a cardboard tube for future storage.

Now what kind of nut do you need for that double wide bolt to hold it on?

There's an upholstery/fabric place right across the street from the Pilgrim's Pride slaughter and processing plant in Dallas. (Double bonus, you can buy chicken AND fabric in bulk, all in one trip.) I think it's off S. Good Latimer and is the Childress location that someone mentioned earlier.
