I'm in my 6th year, and not planning on leaving, however, I am VERY open to a position change. I used to LOVE what I do here, but the last several months, it's kinda been headed downhill. I still like it in some ways, but really don't in others...

I echo Don's thoughts. I've been at my "job" for 12 years and love it. The only thing I'd change is to go from working in an insurance office for an agent to having my own agency.

I love my job. I just wish the pay would be a little bit better, that's all.
I love the travel and the 4-5 months paid time off (combined up).

I am now in the middle of rounds of interviews (third phone interview coming up on Friday) with a huge firm in Chicago that's been around since 1973 and I foresee to be around for a long time as long as there are exchanges being made (sorry, can't give more information than this). The $ will be a little bit of a raise and made me reach my 6 figure salary I've always dreamed of, but the benefits are what I'm looking for - they still have 2-1 401K matching.

I work in chaotic place, which is bad for me, and my salary is a little low for the industry, but other benefits are good, my commute is virtually non-existent, and after 1 1/2 years they finally put someone good in charge of my group. I have to work with lots of idiots, but I think that's common. I voted "it pays the bills" but maybe I should have said something better.

I think the poll is inconsistent. Regardless of how I felt about my job, I would most likely quit if something better came along.

My feelings about my job are complex. On one hand, it has provided me with steady, full-time employment for 9.75 years. I have the bare minimum I need to survive. I have full benefits and can take some college classes that the company covers. I work in a clean, air conditioned office that does not play obnoxious music. I usually don't have to work Sunday. I can surf the Internet at work, especially after the boss goes home. Most of the money that I've earned in my life has been at this company. In fact, I earn as much in 5 years or so working here as I earned my entire life previous to coming here.

OTOH, I'm not earning very much money, less than 3 times the poverty level. My wages have been flat or even declining when adjusted for inflation. I am beginning to feel panicky about my financial situation, because I'm so limited by my finances. I believe that I cannot invest enough money for me to retire, ever. I've also discovered how much I enjoy travel photography, and I wish so much that I could do so much more travel photography. I feel like my job is sucking the life out of me, like I'm sufficating.

My job is fine. I've learned that nothing is ever perfect, and I'm darn fortunate to have a job that pays the bills and allows my wife to stay home with the kids. Plus save a little money.

That said, my manager is a dictator. He's funny beyond belief sometimes, but can be a total micro manager and I really don't like working for him. I'm coaching him to lighten up :) .

I can always look elsewhere in the company and that's exactly what I'm doing now. I have 10 years of contact center management experience, love the industry, and I'll find something in another line of business with the same company soon enough.

I'm also not nailed down to one region or state. I can move anywhere at any time, so I guess we're kind of fortunate. We saw the economy problems coming just as we moved here to Texas, so we decided not to buy a house or put down roots here in San Antonio. Just taking a wait and see approach!

I'm okay with my job, the pay is decent, but if someone offered me something even slightly better I'd go for it.

If management were more consistent at my company (I'm on my 4th boss in 3 years) it would be better and ever since they let go most of my immediate coworkers a couple months ago it's been more of a life drain.

And why does my cube have to be yellow? Really? It's depressing.

I'm also writing this after a particularly bad day at work.

P.S. I am glad I have a job, because I would hate even more to not know how I'm going to pay my bills, but I'm not completely opposed to the idea of being a freeloader for a while.

I voted no complaints, it's not ideal, and it's enough of a challenge to keep me interested. Of course I would take a job at a higher salary, it's part of the believe system that was installed in me by my parents, work hard, make more money. My boss gives us a lot of leeway and he does not micro-manage. And I am extremely grateful that I do have a job. I have a friend in a pretty responsible position with a major college, all she does is complain until I remind her that there are too many people that would gladly accept her position. That usually makes her grow real quiet.

I'm a college student and work weekends at a local bakery, make pretty good pay for a first job. Got to pay for camera equipment somehow.
