I need a drink after this one. - 04-14-2009, 08:04 PM

About two years ago I worked a sexual assault case where the now 22 year old daughter came forward and reported that she had been sexually abused from the age of 5 till about 13. She described in detail things that only a victim would know. My DA at the time refused to take the case because it was "too old", and we got into a shouting match in the Grand Jury. Grand Jury indicted the dad next month after the daughter testified.

The (old) DA gave the guy 10 years deferred adjuication (her standard sentence), BUT he had to register as a sex offender for life ( my minimum demand). I KNEW there were other victims, I KNEW that this guy had to be dirty. Well, guess what? He admitted to at least 200, more like 300 victims, his church covered for him, he admitted to his probation officer of having sex with a mentally ill 20 year old, and actively seeking new victims even though he was on probation. Most of his victims (other than his daughters, and the neighbor) are in another country. SO I asked if we could turn him over to this country and let them try, convict, and sentence him. It might happen.

I will not divulge any information on him, or where this took place, but I WAS RIGHT! I KNEW HE HAD TO BE DIRTY! I have done this job too farging long, I always trust my gut instincts. The probation folks got him re-arrested, and now the (new) DA wants his @ss!

I need a drink.

Thanks, the judge decided that 60 days in jail was enough, and will release him on the 29th of April, since "he has been punished enough". I am working to keep him in there along with the (new) DA.

Probation & 60 days?!?!?!? That's not going to make the guy stop abusing. He needs to be castrated! Sorry, but I have very strong feelings about this subject. If I was in your position, Murph, I might find it hard to resist removing him from society permanently.

I'll join you for that drink.

My virtual step daughter is an ADA in Dallas and works the family court sexual assault calendar. She won't let them get away if there's any way possible to
keep them in the can forever.

I think Rod's avatar shows a good option for this situation.

60 days and probation AND has already been punished enough??? I THINK NOT!! I agree with Dan. Castration sounds in order here with his cell being the furtherest one from the medical staff!
