Scientists discover a nearly Earth-sized planet - 04-21-2009, 09:10 PM

Here is the link to this discovery!

Gliese 581 d

now this planet is 20.5 light years (192 trillion km or 119 trillion miles) away!
I would like to hear your thoughts on this discovery?
Do you think we could find the Bizarro side of us on this planet?

Yeah... the Gliesans probably don't fight over whether Nikon is better than Canon.

Well... I'm not surprised. I think we are coming to a point where new technology is going to have to be employed to fully appreciate a discovery like this one. 20.5 light years is close by the distance measurement standards of this universe but well outside of our ability to see any amount of detail. I've watched quite a few really good programs on string theory (membranes viewed on edge?), membrane theory, and multidimensional (hyper) space recently. The greatest discoveries to come may lie right next to us

Now if we could just harness zero-point energy (the connection that makes the collective conscience "real" may be possible due to the zero point energy field imho)

No possible Bizarro if what I read is correct. The article stated the orbit of the planet is too near it's sun thus making it too hot for life as we know and understand it to be. However, what we know in relation to the universe might amount to an unseen microbe on the sharp end of a needle.

And cold fusion is hot again...

I think you watch some of the same shows I do... I love it when they start talking about the mathematics of multiple dimensions and parallel universes... I majored in math, that kinda theoretical mathematics fascinates me. I can't do it anymore, but it fascinates me. LOL

If the Germans can produce ShamWow and offer a 10 year warranty on it, then anything is possible------parallel universes and multi-dimensions are easy!!!!!
If we got enough ShamWows piled in one spot, we could probably suck another dimension into ours considering the absorbency of these things.

I think it may be time for bed. Goodnight, Johnboy.

If people from Gliese are known as Gliesans, maybe this explains Jackie's obsession with sending Alice to the Moon?

And cold fusion is hot again... which is cool I wish that I had a decent understanding of the mathematics but the last that I heard the brightest minds were struggling with Riemannian Geometry or maybe it was the proofs... so my 1W bulb isn't burning hot enough to fathom it or anything on that level. However... I can somewhat wrap my head around the concept of extra dimensions... The vastnest of vast just got vastier <--- Maybe I should enter those two words into Wikipedia?

Want to have some real nerd fun? Realize that air is a fluid and then while you move through the fluid try to imagine the effect that it has and what it would look like if you could see it

And there's always zero point energy to consider... I think, for no apparent reason, that the energy field that surrounds everything (aka zero point energy) is the medium through which the collective conscience is connected. It's the ultimate WiFi experience Excuse me while I go listen to Coast to Coast AM now
