Yeah. You Nikon folks have always thought your gear was worth a lot more than the other brands. This could be a good deal to someone in the middle of Nebraska, or Mexia, or Mineral Wells, or Binghamton, or......

Ill have you know ive seen some of these canon 20D's and 10D's going for like several hundred dollars. People dont realize that digital cameras just dont hold their value.

Okay, so you paid 2g's for it when you bought it 8 years ago. Now its worth $200.

I was in the exchange a while back and they were selling a D1x for a guy, he wanted $1500 for it. I told him, that's ridiculous. There is no way I would ever pay that much, its worth maybe $300.

I take what I see on Craigslist with a grain of salt... it is very useful for certain items, but I've never purchased items on it; only sold.

I sold my D80 on there with the 18-55 lens from my wife's D40 and I got 550, it's more than I would've gotten for it here.

I've sold several items on CL.
The prices were reasonable.
I also bought a studio camera stand on CL for $125. They retail for $700-800.

I look at Craigslist and have bought a couple of photo-related things from sellers. You just have to know what something is worth and what you're willing to pay.

Best part are the creative services listings, though. That's where the real entertainment is, especially among some of the "pro" photographers hawking their wares.

I've listed in CL and even gotten some clients from it. But, I advertise realistically and hope they see the value I offer.

I know there are legitimate pros advertising their services. It's the complete, all-day wedding coverage with two photographers that runs from $150 to $250 total. There's no way to make that business model profitable.

I love craigslist....

I post stuff on their all the time.....
And I buy stuff on there every once in a while. I picked up a savage portable stand, with the back, and two rolls of seamless for $50. Older guy out in Spring area getting rid of his gear....

I picked up 2 rolls of 108" seamless recently for $40 each.... ended up making a new friend, doing a maternity shoot, and she gave me one of the rolls of seamless:

It's a great resource if you are smart enough to check prices on stuff...

There are some good deals, plenty of scams and some dang funny stuff.

I've bought a battery grip off Craigslist and been satisfied. If it was something more expensive, complex or inherently breakable, I'd be leery. Why go to CL when you've got a much better chance of dealing with fellow TPF members, meeting someone nice and trustworthy and getting a deal?

I also cruise the boat and bicycle listings on CL, but mostly just to look at the pics.

I live on CL. I hardly ever buy new gear, and always have CL open in a tab on the laptop. I kinda have a rep for trading from little things to huge expensive things on there, ad bet's are sometimes made when I get new things, on how long it will be before I trade it off on CL... lol
