while wiki is not exactly the most irrefutable source, this time they're fairly close. the switch was not complete at all locations until much later. There were some lawsuits that finally got it switched in all locations; some folks with religious reasons to avoid cattle parts got involved.
And there are purists who insist that the change affected the taste of those world-famous fries......and some claim that the switch from animal to vegetable oil wasn't the improvement claimed since (at first at least) the vegetable oil was hydrogenated to delay spoilage.......
I really don't care, I love 'em.....
