That said, I did do some shots for a friend and his wife on Saturday. When were you up here?

As long as you dodge the Buick-sized tumbleweeds, it's a great place to shoot. Met my wife in Lubbock, and then we left!

One of the staff photogs got a photo of the assistant city editor standing next to it.

I grew up out in Lubbock, well east of town and went to Roosevelt High School. Was out there not too long ago and man they have made some changes around campus.

I've always wondered why the newspaper in Lubbock is called the Lubbock Avalanche
Journal. I thought a slope was needed for an avalanche. Lubbock isn't known for slopes. Most of the "slopes" are closer to Post and look like the picture Mark took.

I shot it right off 82 just east of Crosbyton. Lubbock is fun to knock, but it's got a lot "goin'" for it. I kinda' like it.

Except for a few mesas outside of town that we locals call mountains, we don't have much topography in Abilene either, but when it rains mud here, I blame Lubbock.
