OK, I have to say, finding a dentist that doesnt suck and isnt a crook seems to be an oxymoron.
I had 1 dentist growing up - he was a friend of the family. If you had a tooth abscess in the middle of the night, he would open if you called him and take care of you. He did that for all his clients.
When I went to college in Abilene, I left NY and on the drive down, I cracked a tooth. At least they told me I did. They filed the tooth down and capped it. My NY dentist was pissed b/c I was 18 and the Xray showed no crack or indication the tooth was hurt (and I didnt do anything to it that should have broken it). That was my 1st brush with crappy dentists trying to make a quick buck.
Fast forward - now Im cynical after many more of the same type of crap.
I finally found a dentist that didnt suck and did good work. He retired. New guy makes you do an annual appointment, and then when you have $ to get your fillings, he wants another screening appointment (which is $65) to see what work needs to be done. My old guy didnt do that. Is this the norm? These 2 shared an office for years. I find it bazaar that they are doing things so different.
Anyway, my kids dentist doesnt do that (he says all xrays are good for a year). My old dentist didnt do that (he said the same). What's the norm to get a filling from YOUR dentist - not a new one. So existing patient wants to have work done w/ in a 12 month period? Do they require an additional/ mandatory exam? HotHolly added 18 Minutes and 7 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below
And...if anyone has a good dentist in Abilene, feel free to share. Im in the market.
