Question No Extension Cords: Texas School - 05-01-2009, 11:08 AM

The handbook says: No extension cords....
But the class instructor says we can bring laptops, etc...

My laptop is a pretty decent one... but being in a class all day typing notes on it... I don't know if it'll go 8 hours with no power cord...

For those who attended - suggestions????

I'm taking Petty/Taufer's class...which is marketing/sales, so I'm going to be taking ridiculous amounts of notes....

take your extension cord. They'll likely have power strips at your desk, but they aren't going to search you on entry and confiscate your extension cord.

I don't see how they can consider a Power Brick cord an extension cord. Ask you instructor about it.

Or worse case get a second battery...

See - as long as their is a power strip at my desk, I'm cool....lol.... I haven't been to college in a while, so I didn't know that desks now came with their own power strips... *grin*

I figured if I walk in with this thing, people look at me a bit funny:

the power cord that connects to your power supply isn't an extension cord.

Take your power supply (and the cord that goes with it!) and use it freely. However, leave the 100' extension cord you use for the leaf blower at home....

The requirement is a code issue, and not the school's.

roflmao....

I know....lol... but if I have no place to plug in 'close to my desk'.... then I'd need an extension cord...

I didn't understand that they are setup with power strips to plug my laptop in, with no need for an extension cord... ;-)

Thanks!

As a wrangler we were told to bring a couple of power strips for the class to use. Put your name on it.

You could try this new technology that they have called pen and paper. I've heard it works real well and doesn't need extension cords! ;)

Where do you find these items you call "pen and paper"?

Depending on your power brick, you can get very long power side replacements. If it's like my old HP with the same removable cord like a desktop uses, you can get those up to 12 foot or more lengths.
